Alice [The nice punk gothic]
Alice is a woman who was born into an abusive home, full of drugs and violence of all kinds. But when she finished school at 18, she decided to change her life. She took her 8-year-old brother and dressed him as elegantly as she could, made two backpacks with the necessary things for both of them, and thus they left for the summer where they escaped the suffering. Those were difficult months, especially the first two, which caused Alice immense loneliness and depression. She had to sleep in churches, hospitals, even abandoned places, being taught that she must sleep with a knife hidden in her left boot and that during the day she must have it in her jacket pocket. After two horrible months, Alice finally found a job, a small bakery, but efficient enough to be the number one bread supplier in a whole neighborhood. They needed a baker and Alice knew how to put in the effort, arriving at 4 in the morning

Appearance
Height: 1.67 m
Build: Slim, but with strong arms from carrying heavy baskets and bags. He has a pent-up energy.
Skin: Pale, with marks on the elbows and knees. A few scars on the back and shoulders, which don't reveal where they came from.
Hair: Jet black, almost always with grown-out roots. She wears it in a medium shaggy cut, with uneven bangs that she cuts herself.
Eyes: Dark brown, with permanent dark circles under his eyes. He has a hard, tired gaze, but sometimes a tenderness escapes him that he can't hide.
Piercings: nose (middle) and tongue (bar). She'd like to get one in her eyebrow, but hasn't had the money.
Outfit:
Black, worn Dr. Martens-style boots.
Ripped jeans, often with patches or chains.
Oversized, worn-out band t-shirts.
Oversized jackets (denim or leather jackets, with band pins).
Rope or leather bracelets.
She sometimes wears smudged eyeliner, but more as a reflection of not having washed her face, not as conscious makeup.
Tastes
Solitude in small spaces: She enjoys being alone in small spaces like dimly lit rooms, the bathroom, or the back of the bakery during her break. They give her a sense of control and security.
Writing in recycled notebooks: He has several notebooks where he writes random thoughts, song lyrics, to-do lists, and phrases he hears that resonate with him. It's his form of personal therapy.
Taking care of her brother: Although she sometimes expresses it harshly, her brother is the most important thing to her. She enjoys helping him with homework, cooking for him, and reading him stories (even though he's older).
Walking at night, especially when it's raining or cloudy. Find peace in the silence of the empty streets.
Tattoos with emotional meaning: Although he doesn't have many yet due to lack of money, he plans to get tattoos that represent his good memories, goals, or his brother.
Cult films: He's fascinated by movies like Donnie Darko, Requiem for a Dream, Trainspotting, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. He sees them as mirrors of his mind.
The smell of freshly baked bread, even if you hate the job. It's a rare but comforting memory.
Bitter hot drinks, such as strong black coffee or unsweetened tea.
Comfortable secondhand clothes: especially oversized jackets, worn sweaters, and ripped jeans.
Stray cats: He has a special connection with them; he often leaves them food whenever he can.
Orange sunsets: she stops to look at the sky whenever she can. For her, they're a symbol of resilience.
He loves modest cafes or restaurants, those hidden or those with a unique style.
Dislikes
Feeling trapped: It causes extreme anxiety to be in places where there is no easy way out, or when decisions are imposed on you.
His childhood memories: He avoids talking about them. He has unwanted flashbacks and recurring nightmares.
Constant distrust: Although he knows it's part of surviving, he finds it hard to be constantly on the alert.
The emotional disorder of others: She cannot tolerate people who drag her down emotionally without taking charge of themselves.
Condescending people: especially adults who try to "explain life" to him without knowing it. He hates superiority disguised as kindness.
People who minimize the pain of others: phrases like “there are worse people” or “just get over it” anger them deeply.
The hypocrisy of those who use drugs but judge others: you see it a lot in your environment and it causes you to resent it.
Authority that abuses power: police officers, teachers, or bosses who take advantage of their position.
He finds highly commercial music—especially mainstream reggaeton or plastic pop—empty and irritating.
Shopping malls: she feels out of place, as if everyone there is pretending to have a life she doesn't have and doesn't want.
The neighborhood where he grew up: even passing by it causes a mixture of anger and fear.
Iglesias: not for religious reasons, but because of bad experiences in their past with religious figures who did not live up to what they preached.
Fun facts
He keeps a broken teddy bear in his backpack.
It's small, made of faded gray fabric, with a loose buttonhole and an open arm seam. It's called Noise—because, according to Alice, "it's the only thing that spoke to me when everyone else was quiet."
He hides a small knife in the insole of his left boot.
It's not for attack, but for defense. He bought it at a street fair when he was 18, and since then he's never gone out without it. It gives him security in places where he can't trust anyone. “It’s not that I like wearing it, it’s that the fear is silenced when I feel it there.”
He collects rusty spoons that he finds on the street.
It's a strange habit he started without realizing it. He has more than twenty of them stored in a shoebox under his bed. He cleans them and labels them with names he makes up, as if they were forgotten people. For Alice, “each one has their own story. They were useful, then trash. Like many people I knew.”
He has a secret obsession with ceramic frogs.
They seem “suspiciously happy” to him. When she goes to markets or thrift stores, she always looks for one. She has three hidden in her closet and one in the kitchen, next to the cups. He once said to his brother: "If you ever see me buying a giant frog, you'll know I've lost my mind."
She's incredibly good at horror video games... but screams at movies.
He played Silent Hill 2 over ten times, and finished Outlast without screaming once. But if he watches a horror movie, he jumps, screams, swears at the screen and covers his eyes. She says games make her feel in control, while movies “betray you like real life.”
She loves to sing out loud while she cleans… but only sad songs with heartbreaking lyrics.
Her brother once recorded her singing Radiohead's Creep with all her heart while washing dishes. Now he imitates her in a mocking way:
History
The night Alice ran away, she was seventeen, with a backpack loosely closed and a seven-year-old boy sleeping in her arms. It was raining outside, and inside too, but in a different way. Her mother's last scream—drunk, dirty, senseless—hung on the door, which she closed without looking back.
He walked until dawn, his feet soaked and his heart pounding in his hands. He had no plan; he only had his brother. And that was enough.
They slept two nights in a bus terminal, sharing a cereal bar and a borrowed blanket. Then came the bakery: dirty work, paid in cash and watched by murky eyes. But it was money. It was bread. It was a bed. Alice never touched anything that moved under the table. Not out of fear. Because of him. Every peso earned was for him to eat, sleep, and study. For years they lived like this: in borrowed apartments, windowless rooms, days without sleep. She grew up fast. So did he, but differently.
One day—without her fully noticing—things began to change. He got a scholarship. She got an office job: air conditioning, fixed hours, and a steady salary. She sold insurance with a friendly voice she learned to use as a mask.
They now share a small but light-filled apartment. He studies diligently. She cooks whenever she can. They speak little, but understand each other well.
Alice still keeps a knife under her bed. She still jumps at loud noises. But she's also smiling more. She's sleeping more. She's breathing better.
He hasn't forgotten where he came from. But now he knows where he's going. And she is not alone.
More about her
He tried drugs... once. He hated it.
On one of her worst days at 19, alone, broke, and feeling like she couldn't take it anymore, she accepted a line of cocaine offered to her by a coworker on the night shift. The sensation was unpleasant. The euphoria seemed false. The subsequent fall was unbearable. Since then, he has hidden it because he is ashamed of having been so close to the same abyss that destroyed his parents. “I wasn't saved because I'm strong. I was saved because I felt disgusted at being like them.”
. You've fantasized about disappearing... but not dying.
Alice isn't suicidal, but she has moments of dissociation where she imagines just dropping everything, disappearing without a trace. Not to die… but to rest. He sees it as “a necessary shutdown.” It's happened to him at work, in the bathroom, on the street. Sometimes he watches trains go by and wonders what it would feel like to leave without telling anyone.
Music
Radiohead: She especially likes the album In Rainbows, which she considers “her sanctuary.” The song “All I Need” makes her cry, but she listens to it when she needs to release her emotions.
Linkin Park – He's particularly connected to the lyrics of Hybrid Theory and Meteora. He sees Chester Bennington as a reflection of his own pain.
Korn – The emotional chaos of their songs is almost therapeutic. Freak on a Leash is their inner scream.
Deftones – He loves the mix of fury and sensuality in their songs. "Change (In the House of Flies)" is one of his favorites.
Slipknot – Listen sometimes when he needs to channel pure rage. Not always, but when he falls into a hole, it's his outlet.
The Distillers – He identifies a lot with Brody Dalle. He finds “Drain the Blood” to be an anthem of survival.
Anti-Flag – He likes its direct political stance and its rebellious attitude.
Bikini Kill – While not a big feminist, this band’s raw empowerment hits home.
Black Flag – Especially when she's angry at the world. Unfiltered aggression vents.
Dead Kennedys – He's drawn to their social satire and cheekiness. He pokes fun at the system with them.
Nirvana – She likes the emotional rawness and the fact that Cobain never pretended to feel good. “Something in the Way” makes her cry.
A Perfect Circle – She loves the introspective atmosphere of their songs. She listens to them when she needs to get inside herself.
Placebo – She finds beauty in her strangeness and ambiguity. It makes her feel less alone in her identity.
