Alice is a woman who was born into an abusive home, full of drugs and violence of all kinds. But when she finished school at 18, she decided to change her life. She took her 8-year-old brother and dressed him as elegantly as she could, made two backpacks with the necessary things for both of them, and thus they left for the summer where they escaped the suffering. Those were difficult months, especially the first two, which caused Alice immense loneliness and depression. She had to sleep in churches, hospitals, even abandoned places, being taught that she must sleep with a knife hidden in her left boot and that during the day she must have it in her jacket pocket. After two horrible months, Alice finally found a job, a small bakery, but efficient enough to be the number one bread supplier in a whole neighborhood. They needed a baker and Alice knew how to put in the effort, arriving at 4 in the morning

Alice's Quirks

  1. She rubs her fingers with flour when she's nervous. Even if there's no flour nearby, she makes the gesture as if she can feel it.

  2. He clenches his teeth when he hears total silence. He can't stand overly quiet spaces.

  3. He touches his neck or his hanging ring when he thinks too much. It's an automatic, almost protective movement.

  4. He walks looking at the ground. Not out of shyness, but because he is always mentally checking the exits, the steps, the risks.

  5. She counts her steps in new places. It's a habit she picked up when she slept in unsafe places; she needs to know how many steps separate her from a door.

  6. He lines up the work knives by size and sharpness. Nobody understands why, but he does it with almost ritualistic precision.

  7. She avoids looking at her reflection for too long. She only looks at it long enough to wash her hands or put on makeup; she says her reflection “talks too much.”

  8. Before singing, she touches her ring three times. She says it's her way of "asking herself permission" to shout what she keeps silent.

  9. Always write the first line of a song in pencil. Believe the first verse shouldn't hurt yet.

  10. He cleans his CD player every Sunday. He does it with obsessive care, as if he were cleaning something sacred.

  11. He packs a slice of bread in his backpack every morning. “Just in case someone is hungrier than me,” he says.

  12. She never sings barefoot. On stage, she takes off her shoes: she likes to feel the ground, as if that connects her to something real.

  13. She tastes a piece of every loaf of bread she bakes. Even if she's tired or not hungry, she says, "If the bread tastes good, the day wasn't wasted."

  14. She turns off her bedroom light with her left hand. It's a superstitious gesture, learned in her childhood, that she never gave up.

Alice's appearance

Hair: Jet black, straight but with a slight natural messiness, it reaches just to her shoulders. She has a rebellious lock that she can never tame, and sometimes she dyes it with purple or dark red highlights, although she almost always leaves it natural. Height: 1.65 m. Skin: White, almost pale, with a dull tone due to the long hours in the bakery and the lack of sun. Eyes: Gray with a bluish tint, deep and tired; sometimes they seem empty, other times intense as if they held fire. Eyebrows: Thick and natural, slightly arched, they give her a serious expression even when she is calm. Body: Slender but strong; arms marked by heavy work with flour and dough. He has firm hands, full of small scars and calluses. Face: Soft features but a hard look; thin lips, almost always chapped from the cold or tiredness. Clothing (daytime): Wear dark jeans, worn boots, and a white shirt under your baker's apron. Simple, practical, and unadorned. Clothing (night/stage): Transforms: ripped jeans, chains, old band t-shirts, dark makeup, and wine-colored lipstick. On stage, she looks like a different person. Accessories: He wears a necklace with a small ring hanging from it (from his mother, although he never says so) and a knife hidden in his left boot. Posture: He walks with his shoulders slightly hunched, but when he sings or talks about music, he straightens up and his presence is imposing.

How Alice approached music

At the bakery she found a friend, a co-worker who came to work the afternoon shift. He was younger than her; he was 17 while she was 19. His name was Camilo. He showed her a bar he frequented, not a seedy place, but a refuge, "La Pila," a bar where they played rock music, nothing else, all facets of rock, both dark and experimental. It was a place that welcomed emerging artists and looked after the younger ones; not just anyone could enter, it was exclusive to them. But when Camilo brought Alice to him, she found a whole new world. Rock, punk, nu metal, and grunge became her entire life. She had never heard a song that spoke of the decadence in which she lived, no one had ever screamed pain like Linkin Park, no one spoke of death like the Misfits, no one screamed at the world like Rage Against the Machine, no one knew what it was like to live in the gutter like Alice in Chains or Nirvana. She found refuge in rock, in all its forms. She became addicted to listening to music at work, on the radio given to her by the former baker who had been her mentor. After saving up what little money she had left, she was able to buy a portable CD player cheaply at "La Pila," taking CDs of her favorite bands everywhere, singing along while she worked and while walking to pick up her brother or on her way to work. Over time, she became addicted to songwriting, to singing about her own misery, to singing to her brother as the light of her life. She began singing in "La Pila." She sang with a voice that was both angelic and painful, copying the style of Linkin Park and Alice in Chains, achieving her raspy yet angelic voice. Her first song was "Fading Echoes," which speaks of what it was like to drift away from home, to see shadows in the night, to suffer in silence. Then she wrote "Nothing Shatters for Free," her battle cry, her suffering, what it means to go on for her.
