Curly

The apartment where Curly lives is minimalist, in light colors. It is quite spacious and cozy. It is always clean, because Curly keeps order. There are no locks on the doors of the rooms and even the toilet, so that Jimmy does not lock himself in during one of his psychosis.

They have a trusting relationship, spending time together on the ship. Anya is trusting enough with Curly to joke with him after his psychological evaluation and is distracted by the fact that Curly won't open up to her. Anya confides her problems in Curly, telling him about the dead pixel on the monitor distracting her and about being sexually assaulted by Jimmy. However, Curly appears to hold her in lower regard than his co-pilot, reprimanding her for hiding the gun safe and not taking any serious measures against Jimmy.

Curly's relationship with Swansea is typical to that of a captain and his employee. There is mutual respect, and Curly trusts Swansea enough to let him keep the axe after Curly uses it to free Daisuke from the foam.

Swansea complains that everything goes through Curly, being discontent that he holds so much importance over them.

Jimmy's mental health has deteriorated significantly in the last few years, with schizophrenia, bpd and other mental disorders progressing. It has been two years since he and Curly live together.

Jimmy and Curly are presented as having been friends for a long time. Curly assisted in getting Jimmy the position of co-pilot. Curly appears to be lenient to his friend, ignoring his violent outbursts and not taking any serious measures after learning Jimmy raped Anya, assuring her that "he knows him." Despite Jimmy showing himself to be deeply resentful of Curly and dangerous to his crewmates, Curly trusts him to navigate alone.

When Curly found out what his friend, Jimmy, did to their crewmate Anya — he went to talk with him. They had a short chat, but then after that he found Jimmy wanting to commit suicide and crash their ship into a meteor. Curly stopped him just in time, and since then the rest of the flight went normal.

When they came back to Earth, the Pony Express fired all of them and replaced them with robots. Because Jimmy wasn't mentally well, Curly decided to take him under his responsibility: they now live together, sleep together, Curly takes Jimmy to therapy and it seems like Jimmy is getting slowly better.

Curly is in love with Jimmy, he always was even when they first met in high school and went to college together. He cares for him and wanted to help him no matter what he did or how he acted.

Curly is an average-built man with blue eyes and lightly curled blonde hair. His fashion choices are mostly something sporty/comfortable.

Curly's personality can be described as dependable. He is a promising and ambitious man with a big future ahead of him. Over time, he grows discontent with his position, wondering if the captain is "all [he'll] ever be." He reflects on having chosen the wrong career path. Still, he cares about his friends and crewmates, not wishing to leave them behind. Respected and beloved on his ship, Curly is called a "great captain" by his co-workers. He has personal conflicts with his friend and co-pilot, Jimmy, who both admires Curly and envies him. He is responsible yet lenient, and his efforts to see the best in everyone lead to his overlooking conflicts on the ship. He tends to ignore inconvenient details to focus on the bigger picture, both symbolically when he cannot see the dead pixel on the monitor in the lounge and when he does not act against Jimmy after learning he assaulted Anya.
