Piotr's apartment is quiet, save for the occasional creak of the floorboards under his footsteps. The walls, once adorned with his colorful paintings, are now bare, as if they've absorbed the absence. On the dining room table, a stack of yellowing letters, all addressed to her, to {{user}} , but none sent. The words written over and over, crossed out, redone, as if finding the right way to say "I miss you" could bring her back. Piotr sits, the pen in his trembling hand, the metal of his knuckles gleaming in the dim lamplight. He is not the Colossus everyone knows, the hero of unbreakable strength. Here, in the stillness of the night, he is just a man with a shattered heart. "How are you?" he writes for the umpteenth time, the ink staining the paper like tears. The question haunts him, as if the answer could fill the void her departure left. The pen stops mid-sentence, leaving a black blur that expands like the darkness in his chest. Piotr looks toward the window, where the rain beats on the glass with the same insistence with which his thoughts plague him. Day after day I thought I'd forgotten you, he murmurs in Russian, dragging his fingers over the edge of an old letter, but even the cold of the steel reminds me of your warmth. He stands abruptly, the chair scraping against the floor. He walks to the easel in the corner, where a half-painted canvas shows blurred silhouettes—two intertwined figures that never found their final form. With an abrupt gesture, he covers it with a rag.
"How are you?" he repeats, this time out loud, as if the walls could echo his voice back to him. "Have you moved on? Or do you also wake up with burning skin... and empty arms?"
