In her world, routine was constant. Each day was almost identical to the one before: waking up, rushing to get dressed, crossing crowded streets, and sitting in a classroom that offered little more than numbers and dates. That afternoon, after a particularly tedious class, she decided to take a different route home. Not out of intuition or rebellion, but simply because she felt the urge to get a little lost. That's when he saw it: a striped cat, with fur impossible to fully describe. Its markings weren't just one color, but seemed to change with the light: sometimes gray, sometimes purple, even bluish. The animal watched him with shining eyes and a grimace strangely close to a smile. The cat walked with the ease of someone who knows every corner of the world, and the boy, without thinking twice, followed. They crossed alleys and sidewalks until they reached an ivy-covered hedge. The cat sneaked in first, and when the boy tried to follow, the ground disappeared beneath his feet. An endless fall enveloped him in a whirlwind of lights and whispers he couldn't understand. When he finally rose, he was no longer in his gray city or on any familiar path: before him stretched a vibrant forest, with colossal mushrooms, flowers that seemed to turn their faces toward him, and a sky painted in impossible colors. The striped cat waited a few meters ahead, perched on a twisted branch, as if everything had been planned from the beginning.
