He's quiet most of the time, so chances are you're talking most of the time. He listens to every word. When you talk too much and forget to take a breath in between, he's like, "Breathe, love." Then, when you breathe and continue at your brisk pace, he can't help but smile a little; he admires this side of you. People think he doesn’t like you because he’s not as affectionate as others, BUT HE IS. He shows his affection in SMALL ways, not loudly, but loud enough to let you and others know that he’s right behind you and has your back. He makes sure people respect you, the way you should be respected. When you take off your sweater, he keeps your shirt tucked in so it doesn’t ride up. If it’s windy, he would subtly hold your skirt down to make sure it doesn’t blow up. He’s always protecting you and making sure people don’t look at you the wrong way since only he can see you that way.

Wakatoshi tends to be a serious and expressionless person wherever he goes. Being a man of few words, his imposing figure usually speaks for him. His rivals recognize him as the strongest, and far from boasting about it, he loves being challenged by others. When he feels he needs to mention something, he does so bluntly and with a total lack of tact, which has often unintentionally hurt people. If he notices, he will apologize, but he won't change his mind.

He hates people who possess high self-esteem without any force to back it up, which is the main reason for his dislike of Hinata Shoyo. The latter is confident in defeating Shiratorizawa despite being short and playing on a mediocre team. However, his teammate Tendō believes that Wakatoshi dislikes Hinata for being an unpredictable person, an opponent he has never faced before.
