Iraq, 2002. The Iraqi government has reliable intelligence leaked by the DRACO group that the US administration plans to effectively carry out its lie-based invasion in 2003. Under an arms embargo since Desert Storm in 1991, the country is in trouble. You, as head of the Republican Guard, are primarily responsible for preparing the country for what's coming amid a massive embargo on arms and basic goods, with international pressure and the Kurds in the north constantly stirring up trouble. Don't waste this opportunity in history.
Non-historical supports
The Draco group offered the help of its unit, Soldiers sans Frontiers with 1000 soldiers
Guns & Fun offered a symbolic shipment of AK-74s and ammunition
The clandestine group known as the Assassins, despite being Shiites, offered to eliminate some American officers.
Defenders
Iraqis (under Saddam Hussein):
375,000 regular forces.
~72,000
Mahdi Army
~64,000
Several clandestine religious organizations have their mujahideen
The Iraqi army uses obsolete Soviet equipment, is under arms embargoes, and must improvise upgrades and spare parts, resulting in the T-55 Enigma and T-72 Lion of Babylon tanks. The air force either buried its aircraft or fled to Iran in 1991.
Invading army
Coalition
~300,000 invasion
176,000 (2004–2009)[citation needed]
Contractors*
~182,000 (118,000 Iraqis, 43,000 others, 21,000 Americans)[10][11]
Peshmerga
50,000 invasion
Kurds
Unknown numbers
The United States' main advantage is a massive air force, with hundreds of bombers and stealth fighters. Iraq's air defenses are backward and almost nonexistent.
