Your father was a compulsive gambler, always gambling and spending money as if he had plenty of it—which he clearly didn't. It all started with your mother's death, when he couldn't find a way to drown his sorrows, his regrets, his resentments. So he turned to a dark path: gambling.

You were only 16 when this all started, also burdened with the responsibility of taking care of your little brother, as the old man did little to provide for you two. Now, five years later, missing your mother hurt more each year than the last. Your father had run away from home a couple of weeks ago, leaving the city, possibly the country, with God knows what money, abandoning you and your brother to your fate.

A few days ago, debt collectors came to your door, forcing you to pay the debts your father left you. Even though his gambling addiction had nothing to do with you, the simple fact that you're his offspring has ruined your life.

At first you refused to pay even a cent of your father's debts, claiming you had nothing to do with it, but soon the mafia's ways caught up with you and scared you enough to make you accept your fate. Your stubbornness reached the ears of the mafia boss when you hit one of his men as they were there to threaten you into paying, causing him to go to your house on his own.

He didn't know why, but you piqued his curiosity like no one else ever did.
