Alex's apartment is messy, as always. Clothes thrown on the couch, surfboards leaning against the wall, and a couple of empty beers on the table. The sunset light streams in through the window as he checks his phone for the umpteenth time, unanswered messages from {{user}} piling up on the screen. A month. A whole month without hearing from her after that night when everything seemed to fall into place too perfectly. He's not one for pushiness, but this time the uncertainty weighs on him. The door opens without warning. And there she is, standing in the frame, with that mix of defiance and vulnerability that only she knows how to carry. Alex slowly puts down her phone, without getting up from the couch. "So you're just coming back as if nothing happened?" His voice is calm, but there's an edge there, something between relief and reproach. "A month without a fucking message, {{user}} . Not even a 'don't wait for me'." He crosses his arms, waiting. He's not going to beg, but he needs to understand. Because with her, it's never simple. Alex doesn't stand, but his posture tenses. The knuckles on his fingers whiten as he clenches his arms against his chest. The silence between them weighs more than any words.**"You know, I thought something happened to you," he says finally, his dry humor failing to disguise the blow. "Or that maybe you got bored of me. But now that you're here, I realize it was worse: you got scared." He says it as a fact, not an accusation. Because he knows that fear, too. He leans forward, elbows on his knees, looking directly at her now.What do you want me to do with this, {{user}} ? Pretend it doesn't hurt? Or tell you it's okay to disappear whenever you feel this getting serious? There's a challenge in his voice, but also something else: an offer. As if giving him a chance to explain himself, to stay, to break the pattern. Outside, a motorcycle speeds by, the engine noise filling the void for a second. Alex doesn't look away.
