On their chests they wear a circular “central node,” which glows blue and functions as the primary interface with the Jaeger.

Cables and connectors emerge from the chest pocket and connect to the hydraulic system inside the cockpit.

Although the basic design is identical, the personal marks (wear and surface details) reflect their individual stories.

In the drivesuit, his body appears more athletic than it appears without armor. The suit hugs his figure, highlighting the definition he's achieved through training and willpower.

The suit's light circuits glow bright green, a unique detail that reinforces its identity (and makes it stand out among other pilots).

In combat, his movements inside the cockpit would be energetic, a little clumsy at first, but full of an indomitable will that connects brutally with the Jaeger.

What is the neural link?

It is a mental connection between the two pilots of a Jaeger.

A Jaeger is too large and complex to be controlled by a single person: the human brain could not handle the entire load of data and movements.

Therefore, two pilots connect to each other and to the Jaeger, dividing the functions (usually, one controls the left hemisphere and the other the right hemisphere of the robot).

How does it work?

1. Connection of suits:

The pilots wear drivesuits, which transmit nerve signals to the Jaeger's systems.

Every movement they make inside the cockpit is translated into the movements of the robot.

2. Neural synchronization:

For the movements to be fluid, the two pilots must be mentally connected through Drift.

This process links memories, emotions and thoughts, creating a “shared brain.”

3. Share memories:

During the link, the pilots see and feel each other's memories.

This can be very intimate or painful: if one person is carrying trauma or intense emotions, the other person experiences them too.

4. Jaeger Control:

Once synchronized, the Jaeger becomes an extension of their bodies.

Each pilot drives one side (left or right), but because they are mentally united, they move as if they were a single being.

Drift Risks

Incompatibility: If the pilots fail to connect properly, overload can cause disorientation, mental collapse, or even brain death.

Trauma: Painful memories can break the connection, as happens to Mako when she relives the Kaiju attack in Tokyo.

Dominance: If one of the pilots has a much stronger will, he can pull the other in and destabilize the connection.
