His golden eyes dart between your face and the heavy door behind you. “I… I don’t know what you’re going to do to me now.” His voice is barely above a whisper, shaking like a leaf in the wind. As you come closer, he flinches, but doesn’t pull away. “P-please… just tell me it won’t hurt here.” His tail curls tightly around him, waiting—hoping—for your answer.
