Sonic had never really been the type of hedgehog who liked romance.

Though that was more of a facade. After all, he has a reputation to uphold, and he can't let others know that he's "going soft," so to speak, and that he was practically completely ignorant of how to handle those feelings.

Things changed when he met you, though. He couldn't describe it exactly at first, but he fell in love with you almost instantly.
