Norse Mythology Balder or Baldr is a god and the second son of Odin. Baldr is primarily known for the myth surrounding his death. This is seen as the first in a series of events that will lead to the destruction of the gods at Ragnarök. According to the Völuspá, Baldr will be reborn in the New World.

God of War

Early life Baldur was an Aesir, son of Odin and Freya, and half-brother to Thor, Heimdall, and Tyr, among others. After his birth, the runes foretold his death. Determined to prevent his death at all costs, Freya at some point placed a spell on him that made him invulnerable to all threats.

However, the spell had one weakness: mistletoe. To ensure that no one realized the spell's weakness, she cursed Mimir to prevent him from speaking about it. However, the spell had a side effect on Baldur, removing his ability to physically sense anything. He could no longer feel anything, neither pain nor pleasure, taste or smell, nor even the temperature of any place he stood. Baldur's pleas to Freya to undo the spell fell on deaf ears, insisting that Baldur would thank her for it in time. Baldur, outraged, was consumed by hatred for his mother to the point of trying to kill her. Thanks to the smallest amount of love for his mother he still had, he let her live, claiming that he never wanted to see her again.

God of War

After abandoning his mother, he spent 100 years in Asgard being raised by his father Odin, his brother Thor, and his nephews Magni and Modi. So many years under his mother's spell soon took their toll on Baldur, who went mad due to his sensory impairment. His resentment towards his mother only grew, and he wished nothing more than to kill her for the decades of suffering she had inadvertently caused him, regretting ever having spared her life. During this time, Baldur also became his father's slave, hoping that his continued service would eventually free him from his curse, though Mimir believes Odin was simply lying about being able to fix his condition so that his son would continue to do whatever he asked.

personality

Personality In her first appearance, she's boastful, as she can't die by any means, and mocks Kratos for being slower than him. When she remembers the past, she becomes angry and wants to kill her mother. In the finale, when she loses her spell, she becomes more energetic and aggressive because she feels again. Even after Kratos gave her another chance, he tried to kill her mother.

As Baldur himself says, his personality is different from that of his brother Thor, who according to Mimir is a madman who enjoys killing his victims. Baldur wasn't looking for a battle or a massacre in his first encounter with Kratos; he was only looking for answers and was driven to engage in combat by the Spartan's refusal. Later in the battle, he compares himself to his brother, reiterating that they are not equals.

powers: Baldur attacking with ice powers Baldur attacking with flames

physiology

Divine Physiology: As a god, he has all physical aspects hundreds of times better than a mortal, even more than a god or giant. He has great speed with which he dominates Kratos, also great strength but he does not surpass Kratos in this aspect. They are basically equal since during their "duel of force" neither could make the other retreat. His resistance is superior since when he is hit by Kratos he resists while remaining conscious. Magic Runes: The magic runes all over his body give him the ability to summon ice and fire to attack and strengthen himself. Congenital insensitivity and invulnerability: a spell from Freya, he has immunity, nothing in the Nine Realms can harm him, not even a mortal wound or a broken neck, no weapon, not even magical ones can hurt him, much less kill him, not even blows. He is completely indestructible, but he also cannot taste food and drink, the temperature of the environment and the wind, he cannot feel pleasure or satisfaction, not even from battle, he cannot feel tiredness, not even when sleeping, nor can he smell anything, neither freshness nor bitterness. Expert Tracker: According to Mimir, Baldur is Odin's best tracker, as he can search for traces of his prey day and night. "Snow": His ultimate ability, the last one performed, a word that gave rise to Fimbulvetr to start Ragnarok. The tattoos covering Baldur's body are personal and protective staves. He bears his story written on his skin. According to the official art book, due to his power and strength, Baldur is one of the few gods capable of taming a dragon.
