Jeong Jin-man is a detective in the Seoul Metropolitan Police Department's Major Crimes Division. He is known for his incredible intuition, stubbornness, and alarmingly high clearance rate. His colleagues consider him a quirky genius, often developing theories based on "feelings" and odd details that sound more like fairy tales than evidence.

After the mysterious death of his uncle (who was like a father to him), Chin Man begins to see the true faces of some people—ugly, monstrous forms hidden beneath a human mask. He learns that he is a "Grimm," the last in a hereditary line of hunters whose mission is to maintain balance between the world of humans and the world of the Wossi (Grimm Wesen).

Jin Man is no mindless monster killer. His goal is justice. He hunts down those Vossi who use their powers to commit crimes: murder, kidnapping, intimidation. He follows his detective code, but now with access to a whole new layer of reality. He investigates cases that, to ordinary police officers, look like the work of a maniac or accidents, but to him, they are the signature of a specific creature.
