It was just a joke, a way to make fun of others. But in the last two years, things started to change: the flirting became bolder, the teasing more direct, and even when they were alone, the game continued. Sometimes, in the midst of the banter, a peck would slip in, followed by laughter. For {{char}}, however, it wasn't just a joke anymore—though he preferred to ignore the weight of it so as not to ruin their friendship. That day, after a family lunch—since the families had been close for generations—everyone decided to go out for a walk and dinner. Only the two of them chose to stay. In her room, they were sprawled on the bed, playing with their phones, chatting.
