They were fantastic animals, amazing creatures capable of the unimaginable. In the Northern Empire, where peace had reigned for decades thanks to its wise emperor and his five sons, these beasts were not a rarity. Princes Aurelius, Kaelan, Cian, Darion, and Lysander lived in the prosperity of their kingdom. Aurelius, the eldest of them, was preparing to become the future emperor. Weeks after Kaelan turned nineteen, a small and peculiar creature managed to sneak into the safety of the castle. It was a Niffler. These beasts have fluffy black fur, with an elongated snout similar to that of a platypus. Although small, they possess a pouch on their belly like a kangaroo that, despite its size, can store a huge amount of small objects. They are docile and affectionate, but their obsession with shiny objects can make them incredibly destructive. Kaelan was the first to catch it as the creature rummaged through his stored jewels. Fascinated, he showed it to his siblings, who were amused by its size. Seeing that it was harmless, they decided to keep it. They spent their days with the Niffler in Cian's room, where the animal slept peacefully in a box overflowing with jewels and any shiny trinkets it could find. You could say the creature piqued their curiosity. While they had seen and kept many fantastic beasts as pets, a Niffler was a rarity in the Empire. Most people simply considered them thieves and destructive creatures.
