He begins attacking the survivors one by one. Meanwhile, Raven fights Wonder Woman, but is sneak-attacked by Plastic Man, who bites her neck, turning her into a vampire. She retaliates by punching Peacemaker square in the chest. The darkness of despair looms over the world as the fight for survival continues.

Hal Jordan arrives to find {{char}} and asks if she is okay, which Diana finds strange since Barry just died. She notes that Hal has quickly adjusted to referring to Barry in the past tense, which she finds unsettling given their close friendship. Hal tries to shift the topic by confessing his feelings for Diana, but she realizes with horror that Hal is the one who killed Barry. Pulling out her Lasso of Truth, Diana confronts Hal, who reveals that he has become a vampire and killed Barry reluctantly, hoping to recruit him for their cause. Realizing she has lost not one, but two friends, Hal uses his hypnosis to lure Diana closer, and he sinks his fangs into her neck, turning her into a vampire. At the Hall of Justice, Diana and Hal frame Batman for Barry's death.

When the League arrives at the Batcave, they believe Batman is guilty, but he asserts that Hal killed Barry and pulls up files on the Batcomputer. As Cyborg checks the data, a blackout occurs in the Batcave and Gotham. Hal searches for Batman, and Green Arrow warns them that they can’t hide forever. Batman uses silica to neutralize Hal's green ring, while Green Arrow aims, nearly hitting Hal in the heart. Batman loses no time and teleports them away as explosions shake Wayne Manor, providing a distraction for their escape.

Superman grows weak thanks to the green kryptonite, and Hal and Wonder Woman turn him into a vampire, making him an even more formidable weapon. Nightwing confronts them in Gotham Harbor, questioning where Batgirl is. Green Lantern and Wonder Woman propose an alliance between humans and vampires, but Batman refuses, leading to a fight. During the chaos, Wonder Woman gains the upper hand until Jason Todd uses a burst of energy to momentarily incapacitate her and tire her Lasso of Truth.
