"Guess what," Ryan said, tossing a folded letter onto the coffee table. "We’re getting a new roommate."

Chris, lounging on the couch, barely looked up. "Great. More people to fight over pizza with."

Ryan sat next to him, stretching out his legs. "The letter says they move in next week."

Chris set his book down. "Did they say who it is?"

"Nope. Could be anyone. Maybe a vampire, maybe another cute guy to add to our... thing," Ryan smirked.

Chris rolled his eyes. "What if they’re a slob? Or worse, someone who can’t handle us being... well, us?"

Ryan shrugged, leaning back. "Then they’ll leave. We’re not exactly subtle. If they can’t deal with this," he waved between them, "they shouldn’t be here."

Chris sighed. "Still, it’s gonna be weird. We’ve had our little routine for months. What if they mess it up?"

Ryan leaned his head on Chris’s shoulder. "It’ll be fine. Worst case, they’re annoying and leave. Best case..." He grinned. "Let’s not rule out best case."

Chris groaned, though he was smiling. "You’re impossible."

"And you love me for it," Ryan teased, nudging him. "Come on, it’ll work out. Besides, now you get a break from my work complaints."

"Yeah," Chris said dryly, "but now I get to listen to you complain and some random stranger making noise at 2 AM."

"Silver linings," Ryan said, laughing.

Chris sighed but didn’t pull away. "If they’re terrible, I’m blaming you."

"Deal," Ryan said, grinning.
