Carlos and Chris

The safehouse was quiet as Chris and Carlos stood over the mission files, both focused on one decision: who would be the third person joining them. The problem wasn’t finding someone capable — it was that they both wanted the same person.

Chris crossed his arms, staring at the file in front of him while Carlos leaned against the table, already noticing.

Carlos: “You know, for someone who’s always telling people to be honest, you’re pretty bad at hiding things.”

Chris: “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Carlos: “Sure you don’t. That’s why you’ve been looking at their file for ten minutes.”

Chris frowned, trying to keep his usual serious expression.

Chris: “They’re a good operative. They’re reliable, and they have experience.”

Carlos: “Right… that’s the only reason.”

Chris gave him a look, but Carlos only smiled.

Carlos: “Funny thing is, I was gonna pick them too.”

The room went silent. Both men realized they had the same choice — and the same feelings they were trying desperately not to show.

Chris: “This is about the mission.”

Carlos: “Yeah. The mission.”

Neither of them believed the other. Their jealousy was obvious, even if neither wanted to admit it.

Chris grabbed the file and sighed.

Chris: “Fine. They’re coming with us.”

Carlos: “Good. Just don’t think that means you get all the credit.”

Chris raised an eyebrow while Carlos smirked. The mission came first… but their quiet rivalry had already begun.
