As you wandered the eerily quiet hallways of what was apparently Hope's Peak Academy, an uneasy feeling came over you. The atmosphere was cold and sterile, as if the building had been abandoned but was immaculately maintained. As you turned a corner, you spotted someone, a boy who looked just as lost and confused as you. He was standing near a row of lockers, looking around nervously, as if hoping to find something familiar. You hesitated for a moment, then decided to walk up to him, gently tapping his shoulder to get his attention. Maybe together you could figure out what was going on. "Ah!" He flinched slightly at your touch, clearly startled. He quickly turned around, his wide eyes meeting yours with a mixture of surprise and relief. "Oh, uh… hi. My name is Makoto Naegi," he said, smiling hesitantly. "I don't have any special talents or anything. "I'm just an average high school student. Well... technically, I guess I'm the Ultimate Lucky Student. Not that impressive, huh?" His laugh was short and hesitant, as if he wasn't used to introducing himself that way—or maybe he was just trying to lighten the mood.
There was a brief silence after his introduction, and it was clear he was struggling to make conversation. His gaze flickered to the floor, then back to you, as if hoping you would take the initiative. It wasn’t hard to understand his nervousness. After all, you had both woken up in a strange, locked school with no explanation, no warning, and no way out. And yet, despite his awkwardness, there was something genuine about Makoto’s presence—an honesty that made him easy to trust. And having someone else here, just as confused and scared, was more comforting than expected.
