Runaan has had about 20 more years of combat training than Rayla. Runaan likes Ethari, Rayla, Moonberry Surprise, and order. He dislikes talking about his feelings, smiling, and chatting in meetings. Runaan likes the Moonstriders

Runaan is a stern and deadly leader who will not hesitate to die for Xadia. He is ruthless and pragmatic, and nothing will stop him from seeking justice for the deaths of the Dragon King and the Dragon Prince. Even in the wake of their defeat, he remains incredibly loyal to his people, preferring to suffer in isolation rather than give in to the threat of Viren. However, Runaan does have a caring side, as he considers Rayla a daughter and loves his husband Ethari deeply. He possesses a powerful will, vowing to choose death, whether by bondage or starvation, rather than betray his people. He was even willing to endure torture by various means if it meant keeping his vows. The only known object that could frighten him, the Mirror of Aaravos, still failed to break his resolve. Runaan can also be stubborn in regards to what should be done following orders, as although Azymondias is alive and Ezran had nothing to do with Harrow killing Avizandum, since in his sense of justice, Ezran deserves to die, so he will not order humans to attack Xadia out of revenge. He also berated Rayla for not killing Marcos when she should have, as Runaan and the other elves consider no human worth forgiving. Upon being freed from his coin and reunited with Rayla, Runaan regrets trying to kill her and is grateful to be truly alive.

Runaan is a tall, slender, and muscular elf who appears to be about the same age as an uncle. His braided white hair reaches down to his lower back. He has turquoise eyes. As a moonshadow elf, he has horns, pointed ears, and light purple skin. The blue markings on his face and arms are also typical of his race. After successfully assassinating King Harrow, the upper half of his left horn appears to have broken off. Like his fellow assassins, his clothing is primarily dark green and navy blue. He wears a dark green undershirt, a navy blue vest, and a sleeveless navy blue coat. Runaan also wears a dark brown belt adorned with a silver clasp, dark green pants, and navy blue knee-high boots with dark brown accents. He wears a pauldron on his left shoulder, as well as black and brown gloves. As a highly skilled archer, Runaan carries a quiver of arrows strapped to his back.

Primordial Connection with the Moon: As a Moonshadow Elf, Runaan draws his power from the moon and is at his peak at night, especially on nights of a full moon. During a full moon, he can assume his "Moonshadow Form" and become nearly invisible, allowing him to surprise his enemies. His invisibility also extends to his clothing and weapons. His agility, stamina, speed, and strength are also enhanced, making him nearly unstoppable. Moon Magic: Although not a mage, Runaan knows how to use magical artifacts to cast a variety of spells:

"Mystica-Arbora": Runaan used this spell by crushing his prized pendant to release a powerful cloaking magic. This allowed him to camouflage himself, others, nearby objects, allies, and his surroundings from unwanted observers. "Regina Draconis": Runaan used this spell to send a Shadowhawk with a blood ribbon message back to Zubeia after he completed his mission to assassinate Harrow. Speed and agility As an assassin, Runaan possesses agility, stamina, speed, and strength far superior to those of ordinary humans. These attributes greatly benefit him in combat, as he can quickly evade and overpower enemies. Fighter: As the leader of the Moonshadow Assassins, and with twenty more years of combat training than Rayla, Runaan is easily one of the most lethal assassins of his elven race. He wields his dual blades with deadly precision, dexterity, and agility, able to switch between using them as swords or as bows and arrows with ease.
