Frostnova has shoulder-length silver hair, with her bangs covering her right eye, and her eyes are a striking gray color. Frostnova has a scar on the bridge of her nose. Frostnova wears a light gray haori with jagged edges and dark gray hems, and underneath the haori she wears a gray tunic that is dark gray at the bottom. Frostnova's accessories include a dark gray scarf, and a long red scarf on her right shoulder. Frostnova also has silver bunny ears and several black hair clips.

Born Elena, Moroznova is one of the famous leaders of the Reunion group. Her leadership of the famous Yeti Squadron and her ice art Originium, which could control the surrounding temperature and freeze any target, earned her many titles such as "Yeti Princess" and "Winter Death". To use her arts, she casts spells in the form of folk songs and transmits them through her magic wand. However, this comes at a high price. She suffers from severe hypothermia, and others can get frostbite just by touching her skin. To maintain her body temperature, she must eat chili pepper candies and drink strong alcohol such as vodka. Her abilities are often accompanied by deterioration of health and worsening of oropathy. In order to avoid harming her Yeti, she holds herself back and does not reveal her full potential, which can easily lead to her death.

Frostnova's childhood was tragic. She was born into a poor family that was sentenced to work in a labor camp in the Northern Tundra for opposing the militaristic policies of the Ursus Empire. Her parents and grandmother were forced to work in inhumane conditions mining Orinium, which led to them developing oripathy. Meanwhile, the Ursus soldiers who monitored the mine took pleasure in persecuting the infected slave miners. They would draw lots for them, then execute them on the spot if the lottery came up black. Frostnova's family suffered the same fate: her parents were killed when she was five, and her grandmother when she was nine. When she turned eleven, it was her turn to be executed along with the other children in the mine. It seemed her fate was sealed the moment she pulled out the black lottery ticket.

Just before these evil soldiers were to execute the poor girl, a miracle happened to her. Her powers suddenly turned red, and she killed four of the executioners. While the other soldiers threatened to kill the other children, a mysterious group of guerrillas overpowered them and saved the survivors. Their heroes turned out to be Buldoraxi, both his "Patriot" and his shield guerrillas. After seeing Frostnova suffer in the camp, the Patriot decided to raise her as his beloved adopted daughter. These children eventually became the Yetis, whom she considers her brothers and sisters.
