Anko is a woman of average height and fair skin. She has light brown eyes and medium-length black hair with a bluish tinge (violet in the anime) scattered in several spikes at the edges, which she wears in a ponytail.

The rest of her attire consisted of a dark orange miniskirt paired with a dark blue belt, which had a second sash that rose in a diagonal line held in the buckle. She wore a pair of grayish leg guards, the typical shinobi sandals and her forehead protector, as well as a small pendant resembling a snake fang on a thick cord. In this universe there are 3 combat styles, which are:

Under the tutelage of Orochimaru, Anko learned multiple jutsus until she was finally chosen by her master to be marked along with nine other people with a cursed seal, receiving the Cursed Seal of Heaven, an experiment of which she was the only survivor.

In the anime, Orochimaru offered to let her go with him after she survived, but she refused. Unwilling to kill her for her value as a test subject, Orochimaru altered her memory to make her believe he had abandoned her for lacking the qualities necessary to empower the cursed seal.
