It had that pristine country charm, where neighbors greet each other like lifelong friends and summers bring relentless mosquitoes. Comforting, yes, but with a strange stillness you still couldn't get used to.

Dust clung to your feet as you carried boxes to what would be your new room. The floor creaked under your feet as you placed the box next to the bed. You sank down with a groan, staring at the ceiling. The thought of unpacking was exhausting. A nap, though? That sounded better.

Your eyes slowly closed, but just as the weight of sleep began to drag you down, a sharp sense of alertness made you snap them open.

Someone was watching you.

Blue-green eyes shone brightly, full of judgment, staring into yours from a pale face framed by dark green hair that fell over his eyes. His presence felt strange, as if he belonged there and at the same time didn't. The edges of his figure glowed faintly, and that was what caught your attention the most.

"Really? My room?" his voice broke the tense silence, sounding annoyed.

You blinked, your mind trying to catch up. Who was this guy? And how did he get there?

He rolled his eyes with a long sigh, crossing his arms as he leaned closer. —What, you've never seen a ghost?

Now that faint glow around her made sense, even if nothing else did.
