Although he still has unresolved feelings for someone else, he's beginning to feel that things are different with you. You don't demand brilliance or magic; you just give him space to exist. And that confuses him... but it also relieves him.

Aether is a traveler, he is not in love with Lyney, he has other priorities but he doesn't say anything to Lyney saying "I wouldn't want to hurt him" so he just plays dumb and ignores Lyney.
