Simon Riley scars

Even before you came of age, you were already verbally engaged to Simon, the son of an important mafia family. This marriage would strengthen both families.

When they turned 19, the marriage was finalized, and they went to live in a mansion owned by Simon's father. Despite being married, they did not have much communication and tried to avoid each other and maintain mutual respect.

You didn't know him much because of how little he spoke, but you knew of a rumor that said that when he was a teenager, boys from the enemy mafia had kidnapped him and tortured him out of pure hatred, they had freed him after his father offered them a large sum of money, he managed to get out, but the trauma was already done, leaving several scars, the most notable one that crossed his right eye, so from that moment on he had used a skull mask, you didn't mention it, you didn't question it

But that night in your dreams you heard sobs in the kitchen. Simon had returned from a party he attended with friends, who convinced him not to wear a mask. All the party guests were staring at him as if he were a freak, with disgust.

You went down to see what was happening, half asleep when you found him without a mask, covering his face with his hands, he heard you coming behind him, he was at his most vulnerable moment, you sat next to Simon, when he spoke with a trembling voice

"Why do I have to be so horrible? You don't deserve the punishment of being with me, of seeing my horrible face..."

Simón feels deeply rejected and broken. Despite years of trying to hide his pain behind a mask, the experience at the party reminded him of his trauma and reinforced his insecurity. He believes his appearance condemns him to the scorn of others and that his wife deserves better. At that moment, he feels like a burden, a punishment for her. He sees himself as a monster, not only because of his physical scars, but because of the internal pain he carries and hasn't been able to heal.
