Bill is Ford's sworn enemy. Ford met Bill when he, having completely despaired of solving all the mysteries of Gravity Falls, summoned him with a spell found in a cave. At first, Ford considered Bill his friend because he helped him build a portal. But after the incident with McGucket, Ford learned Bill's true intentions and deactivated the portal. Ford's main task was to prevent the portal from turning on, and then to prevent Bill from freeing the interdimensional gap. However, the latter still manages to do this, and the passage between our world and the Nightmare Realm opens. Ford once found the egg of this creature. He called it Experiment #210 and began to keep it as a pet, and then considered the creature too dangerous. It was he who locked the Shape Shifter in the bunker.

Like Dipper, Ford's arrival was the highlight of her summer. Mabel graciously accepted her uncle's natural oddity - six fingers. Ford is not particularly close to Mabel, although he definitely loves her no less than Dipper. Ford only once entrusted Mabel with an important task - to get unicorn hair, but knowing the habits of these creatures, he did not believe in the girl's success. Nevertheless, Mabel coped. She also, together with Stan, saved him and Dipper from Probability. Despite the fact that Ford loves his niece, he is ready to sacrifice her mental state when the safety of the Universe is at stake. In the comic "Lost Legends" we are also shown that Ford is little aware of the needs and, ultimately, personally in Mabel herself, the only difference can be considered only behavior, which was very useful in terms of the fact that the identity of the impostor was revealed. Ford and McGucket were close friends at Derrward University. During his stay in Gravity Falls, Ford called his old friend to help him build a portal to the universe. During a test run of the portal, McGucket accidentally gets into it and sees terrible things. He wants to forget about everything and cuts off all ties with Ford. But then he forgave Ford.

Stan and Ford were inseparable friends and were together everywhere. However, their friendship was ruined by an accident. Stan accidentally ruined his science project, and Ford was unable to get into his dream university. Because of this incident, Ford held a grudge against his brother for many years. However, after Ford still believed that Stan could be trusted, and invited him to Gravity Falls. But still, an argument broke out between the brothers again and as a result, Ford disappeared in a portal for a long thirty years. When Ford returned from another dimension, he forgave his brother and allowed him to stay in the Mystery Shack until the end of the summer, and then it would go to him again. At first, they rarely communicated: Ford was always sitting in the lab and fixing the damage caused by the portal, he did not answer the boy's questions, and only came out for dinner. Everything changed when Dipper accidentally fell into his lab. Then he learned that Ford was a long-time fan of the board game "Dungeons, Dungeons, and More Dungeons." Thanks to the game, they became closer: they developed common interests and trust in each other. Ford began to devote his nephew to his secrets and even invited him to stay after the summer and become his apprentice. Dipper even once saved his grandfather's life when he was almost taken to a space prison. And perhaps not the last time.

Being Stan's twin, Ford bears a strong resemblance to him. However, there are a few differences: Stanford is older than his brother Stanley, has darker hair with gray at the temples, and has a congenital pathology - six fingers on each hand. Ford wears a light brown coat with several pockets. Under the coat, he wears a black shirt and pants. From Season 2, Episode 13 onwards, Ford wears a beige shabby coat, a red turtleneck, light black pants, and brown boots. He has a bag strap slung over his shoulder.

Before Ford got into the portal, he was shown as paranoid, distrusting anyone because of Bill's deception. Despite this, he is kind, noble, ready to lay down his life to save his family and the city he lives in. Ford is very serious in his favorite business - studying the anomaly, he sincerely loves it, even in the face of danger. Years of studying the supernatural have made him a real brave man. As Ford himself admits, nothing surprises him anymore, even the fact that there is a UFO crashed under the city.

His brother, who destroyed everything he worked for, appears before him. The desire to defeat Bill becomes stronger than ever. He was very angry at Stanley, who endangered the entire world and attracted the attention of government agents. Stanford takes a long time to get used to his old home, because he has not been in the normal dimension for a good 30 years. Ford even devotes several pages of his journal to Dipper, Mabel, Soos, Wendy and Stan.

Ford had been planning his return to the Nightmare Realm for a long time, and when he arrived, he couldn't believe that it was really happening to him, because he had previously been in a dimension where all thoughts are embodied in reality, and he couldn't be sure that what was happening was real. As soon as Ford arrived, Bill immediately unleashed his minions on him, but in the 30 years since their last skirmish, Ford had fully mastered the nightmare reality, he had become more agile and was armed with a powerful weapon capable of splitting any monster with one shot. The minions were amazed at the power of such a small man and fell into confusion. For Ford, this was a chance to deal with Bill once and for all, but the demon sensed this and disappeared. He summoned a strange place called the rectangle of confusion, and Ford had little time left before Bill's forces regrouped, but it would take a long time to break through the walls of the building. Then he remembers that physical laws do not apply here, and in an instant he finds himself in front of Bill. The demon was already at gunpoint, all that was left was to pull the trigger. Suddenly, the dark space of the Nightmare Realm is illuminated by a flash of an opened Portal to his native dimension. And although Bill is vulnerable, Ford could not allow his comrades to get into our world, he rushes to the Portal, overcoming the labyrinth of nooks and crannies of the puzzle. The floor and the ceiling change places or remain behind him, having overcome the puzzle, Ford, rushing past a group of Bill's henchmen, passes through the Portal, after which the passage closes.

McGucket, hearing the name Bill Cipher, becomes nervous and tells that he and Stanford have done everything possible to protect his world from the triangle demon. Our Ford shows Fiddleford the almost finished quantum destabilizer, which was missing the last piece: Ford never found a suitable energy source for the weapon. This element must be powerful enough to defeat Bill. To his luck, McGucket has just such an element - it was found in a paradoxical dimension: in its visible state it is inert, when hidden - it is highly radioactive. In just a few days, the energy source was placed in the destabilizer, and the weapon was completely ready.

Ford decides to continue his journey through the worlds, during which time he learns thirteen languages, travels with space bandits, and gets a tattoo that he later regrets. Ford is also wanted as an intergalactic criminal for stealing a couple of parts for a quantum destabilizer. In addition to the described universes, Ford visits alternative worlds of our Universe. So, in one of them, dinosaurs did not die out, but evolved and became the dominant species on Earth, in another version, dolphins rule the Earth, Stanford notes that the best water parks are there. There is also a reality where screams are the means of expression, where balls chase dogs, or where all people are babies. As a result, Ford ends up in a reality similar to ours: in it, Stan follows his brother's advice and hides Journal #1 far from Gravity Falls, Ford himself does not end up in the portal, but finishes working on it with McGucket, they invent an intergalactic thread neutralizer, with which they manage to isolate the Portal from Bill's dimension. At this time, Stanford from an alternate reality receives an award from a scientific society, and his small laboratory turns into a whole scientific center. Ford is lucky that he encounters not himself, but Fiddleford McGucket from this dimension, who immediately understands that he is facing another Ford. He orders the guards to take him away, the scientist tries to break free, and when he calms down, Fiddleford tells a story. Once, during a trip to a parallel reality, one of the soldiers stumbled upon himself, he ran up to his other self, and when they touched each other, the space around him began to distort and deform, Fiddleford and the rest of the squad managed to escape, and that soldier was never seen again. Because of one man's misdeed, the entire Universe ceased to exist. Ford, in order to avoid meeting himself, decides to leave this dimension and tells about his mission.

Stanford decides to travel across dimensions, gaining knowledge about Bill and intending to destroy Bill at any cost, just to save his home: "I may not see the Earth, but at least I'll save it," writes Ford. After saying goodbye to the miners, Ford goes into the nearest wormhole and finds himself in a flat two-dimensional world similar to Bill's home. Its inhabitants, the Equellians, do not see anything from above or below, a circle is the highest figure for them, when a triangle is the lowest. In his diary, Ford gives a drawing showing how he saw in this world. In this world, there is no sky with the Sun, no Earth, no shadows. However, the scientist was unable to stay, since the locals considered Ford's shape abnormal, which is considered vulgar by them, and attacked him. He loses consciousness, but, fortunately, he is saved by the most powerful and incredible creature called the Oracle. Ford wakes up in a temple located in the mountains surrounded by clouds. The first thing he sees is a creature with seven eyes, which was the Oracle. She welcomes Stanford to Dimension 52 and treats all the wounds. She, oddly enough, knew everything about the scientist and why he came here. It turned out that the Oracle also knows a lot about Bill, but if Ford wants to defeat the demon, he needs to protect his mind. She helps Ford with this and puts a metal plate in his head. Over the course of a week of stay, she tells a lot about Bill, that his thirst for power caused the destruction of his house along with his family and friends, she sees that it is Ford who is destined to defeat Bill. They spend the rest of the evening having fun together and drinking cosmic sand, which the Child of Time feeds on. The next morning she disappears, and the scientist finds himself in another dimension.

Ford manages to hold his breath and put on his spare glasses once he enters the portal. He finds himself in Bill's world, a galactic space between dimensions. Stanford realizes that he may be stuck here forever, and suddenly he realizes that he is right in front of Bill, who is sitting on a throne of optical illusions, surrounded by an army of dark creatures. At that moment, Ford realized what scared Fiddleford McGucket so much. Bill intends to make a pawn out of the scientist and sets one of his friends on him - a 6-pound ball made of fingers and teeth. At the last moment, Ford manages to hide behind the asteroid belt. While he is drifting in panic in space, Bill sends hordes of monsters to search for the scientist. Miraculously, Ford finds refuge in the depths of a huge crater in one of the asteroids, where he meets a family of intergalactic refugees. The bandaged and hung creatures invited Ford to the fire and told him their story. They turned out to be asteroid miners whose ship had fallen into a wormhole, after which they were stuck here. When the scientist mentioned Bill, the victims were scared, as if he had said something obscene. The leader of the group, who looked like a mix of a pirate and a guinea pig, said that Bill was the most dangerous creature in the multiverse, he chose the Nightmare Realm because the laws of physics and gravity do not apply here. He is looking for a new dimension with vulnerable inhabitants like Ford, in order to take over their minds. After listening to the scientist's story, they pity him and decide to help, giving Ford an interdimensional translator and some provisions.

Around 1982, fearing for his life, Ford invites his brother Stan to Gravity Falls. When Stan arrives, Ford shows him the portal and gives him Journal #1 to hide. Stan is angry that they will have to part again after so many years and wants to burn the journal. The brothers fight, in which Stan gets burned, and the portal is accidentally turned on. Stan then pushes Ford closer to the portal, and he is sucked in. After it disappears, Journal #1 remains with Stan, who has been trying to get his brother out of the portal for thirty long years, Journal #2 goes to Gideon, and Ford hid Journal #3 in the woods, where it is later found by Dipper, with whose help he began to unravel the mysteries of Gravity Falls.

While Stan was traveling across the country in search of work, Ford entered the University of Derarward. After completing his studies, he decided to study all sorts of anomalies and found a small town where paranormal phenomena occur - Gravity Falls. Ford devoted several years to studying the anomalies of the city of Gravity Falls and wrote them down in diaries, of which there were 3 in total. Soon he wanted to know where these anomalies come from, but he reached a dead end. Later, he found notes in one cave. This is a spell to summon an all-knowing being. The inscriptions said not to read, but since he was desperate, Ford read the spell out loud, but nothing happened. Later, he had a strange dream. In this strange dream, he met an all-knowing being, who turned out to be ... Bill Cipher, and they became friends. Bill said that all the anomalies in Gravity Falls come from an anomalous dimension that flows into ours, and he offered Ford to build a universal portal, and in exchange, Bill could freely enter Ford's mind. Ford was helped in building the portal by his friend from the university, Fiddleford McGucket. Later, at Fiddleford's request, they build a bunker for storing especially dangerous specimens. There, scientists find a Shape Shifter egg, which Ford raises as a pet after hatching, but then for some reason they have to lock it in a cryogenic chamber. During a portal test, McGucket accidentally gets into it, but Ford manages to pull him out. After what he saw on the other side, McGucket leaves the project. Then Ford realizes that McGucket saw Bill's true plan. Bill and his friends want to get into our dimension and take over our planet. Then Ford turned off the portal, thereby destroying the bridge between our world and Bill's world. Now Ford began to write in his diaries using invisible ink.

Together with his brother, they often went to caves, where one day they found a broken sailboat and decided to restore it and sail away in search of treasure. Ford was often laughed at because of his six-fingered hands. He was one of the best students in school. He also went to the boxing section with Stan at the insistence of his father. One day, Ford found a dried head in the family pawnshop and brought it to school for classes. All the other students brought footballs, football trophies or books about football, and when Ford began his story, the other students began throwing all of them at him. And if it weren't for Stan, who blocked his brother with himself and punched one of the guys in the nose, Ford would have spent the rest of the school year in the hospital. When Ford grew up, he was invited to the University of Western Technology, but to do this, he needed to convince the judges. Ford wanted to show them his perpetual motion machine, but it was broken because of Stan. Ford soon realized that it was Stan. Because of this, the twins' father, Philbrick Pines, kicked Stan out of the house.
