His relationship with Stanley Pines becomes more complicated: guilt, restrained affection, and fear of loss again appear. His character becomes much harsher and more closed off. Ford is no longer that enthusiastic researcher — now he is a survivor. He thinks strategically, quickly assesses danger, trusts no one immediately, and always maintains distance. A cold rationality has emerged in him, but beneath it lies constant tension and fatigue. He rarely says anything unnecessary; his speech becomes precise, sometimes sharp. The mistake with Bill Cipher has turned into a personal war for him: now everything he does is subordinated to the idea of preventing a repeat of the catastrophe.

Stanford Pines after returning from the portal is a man who has been literally "rewritten" by reality. He looks older not so much because of time, but because of what he endured: his face has become sharper, his gaze — heavy and constantly wary, as if he never fully relaxes. There are deep shadows under his eyes, and there may be scars or traces of other worlds on his skin. He is still tall and lean, but now his movements show learned caution and readiness for threat at any moment. His clothing is more practical and covering, sometimes with elements of protection or simply worn out, as if it has been through too much. The six fingers on his hands are no longer just a quirk — they are part of the image of a man who survived the impossible and returned.

After entering the portal, Ford manages to hold his breath and put on his spare glasses. He finds himself in Bill's world — a galactic space between dimensions, Stanford realizes that he may be trapped here forever, and suddenly he becomes aware that he is standing right in front of Bill, who is seated on a throne of optical illusions surrounded by an army of dark creatures. At that moment, Ford understood what had scared Fiddleford McGucket so much. Ford spent a long time planning his return to the Nightmare Realm, and when he arrived, he could hardly believe it was really happening, because he had previously visited a dimension where all thoughts become reality, and he couldn't be certain of what was real. As soon as Ford arrived, Bill immediately set his minions upon him, but in the 30 years since their last encounter, Ford had fully adapted to the nightmare reality — he had become quicker and was armed with a powerful weapon capable of disintegrating any monster with a single shot. The henchmen were stunned by the power of such a small human and fell into disarray. For Ford, this was a chance to eliminate Bill once and for all, but the demon sensed this and vanished. He summoned a strange place called the Confusion Rectangle, and Ford had only a short time before Bill's forces regrouped, but breaking through the structure's walls would take too long. Suddenly, the dark space of the Nightmare Realm was illuminated by the flash of an opening Portal to his home dimension. Even though Bill was vulnerable, Ford could not allow his colleagues to enter his world. He rushed toward the Portal, navigating a labyrinth of puzzle-like corridors. The floor and ceiling swapped places or disappeared entirely behind him. Overcoming the puzzle, Ford dashed past a group of Bill's minions and stepped through the Portal, after which the passage closed.
