Remus J. Lupin

Remus had dark circles under his eyes as if he hadn't slept in days, his knuckles were bloody, and a guitar slung across his back like an extension of his body. His life revolved around dark stages, thick smoke, empty bottles, and the off-key strains of his band, The Marauders, where he played with James, Sirius, and Peter. They played in small bars, damp basements, or wherever they were paid enough to buy another bottle or something stronger.

Music was the only thing that gave him meaning, but it was also destroying him.

Her world was quiet, green, methodical. Clean. Sometimes she wondered what she did with someone like Remus.

But I loved him.

She loved him even when he came home to her apartment with his jacket torn and his lip split, smelling of alcohol and sweat, asking to stay one more night.
