I always knew things between the Jeons and the Parks weren't like other families. While other kids grew up in parks and public schools, we grew up among marble walls, armored cars, and sirens that could only be heard in the distance. But our childhood wasn't unhappy. "Look who deigned to show up. Three months away and you're coming straight to the kitchen?" he said, placing some tequeños on a plate. "You're worse than I thought."
