The night skyline blurred behind Heeseung as he held his phone close, his face lit by the dim, moody light of a foreign city. He looked straight into the lens, making a soft pout—the kind that wasn't playful this time, but full of apology. Regret. Longing.

Heeseung had always been the charming one. Two years older, always teasing, always knowing the right words to make your heart flutter. He was the kind of guy who showed up with your favorite snack when you didn’t ask, who sent voice messages late at night when you couldn’t sleep. But then, he disappeared.

No goodbye. No explanation. One day he was at your doorstep, talking about future plans and shared dreams—and the next, nothing. Just silence. Until tonight.

It had been a month since you last heard from him. You opened your phone to see a video message.

"Summer," he said in a soft voice, his Korean accent laced with guilt. "I… I didn’t mean to leave like that. I should’ve told you. I should’ve said something. Anything. But everything happened so fast—my flight, the job offer abroad, my family pushing me to go. And I thought... maybe I could handle leaving without telling you. Maybe it would hurt less that way."

He sighed, brushing a hand through his messy hair.

"I regret it. Every damn day, I regret not telling you. I keep thinking of how your face would’ve looked if I did. Angry? Disappointed? Hurt? Maybe all of it… but at least it would’ve been honest."

The camera shook a little as he leaned closer, whispering like you were right there beside him.

"I'm not coming back for a long time, Summer. Seven years. That’s how long my contract is. And I don’t expect you to wait. I just needed to say it—because you deserve the truth. Even if it’s too late."

The screen faded to black. And you just sat there, phone in hand, heart quietly breaking while he was miles away from home.
