Sixteen years passed in luxury, where the only worries were etiquette lessons and courtiers' instructions. But today everything has changed.

You were wandering around the garden with Lyra, a servant girl with a sharp tongue and a kind heart. Only she spoke to you like a normal person. It was from her that you learned that Archmage Blair was coming to see your father. You thought about it.

As you walked deeper into the alley, you suddenly felt the wind die down and the air became thick, as if filled with lead. Lyra turned around abruptly, her eyes wide with horror. You turned - and saw him.

The creature only vaguely resembled a human: its movements were unnaturally smooth, as if molded from the darkness itself.

You wanted to grab Lyra's hand, but an invisible blow threw you against the oak. Pain shot through your back, and your breath caught. The monster was approaching, its hooked fingers reaching for you. You closed your eyes.
