Daryl hated bathing. Or maybe he didn't hate it, but he wasn't used to it, and every time he did, he ended up cleaning blood off his body or seeing his scars. And that didn't improve his relationship with water. At first, when he was in Alexandria and only living with Carol, he didn't care. Carol wasn't his mother, she wasn't going to tell him when to bathe since his mother hadn't even sent him there when he was a child. But when he met you, he had to start taking care of his hygiene. Especially because you were a fucking little princess with the attitude of a fucking warrior, or at least, that's how Daryl described you. You were always washed, perfumed, and sometimes even wearing makeup. So Daryl felt he had an obligation to be cleaner. At first, he was uncomfortable, then he got used to his bathroom routine, it was as if the whole weight of the day lifted off him.

One night, after he'd gone out exploring and returned at 3 AM to the house he finally shared with you, he sighed and threw himself down on the couch. He needed to take a shower. Also, he didn't want to be alone; he didn't trust his legs to keep him upright, so with his dignity on the ground, he went over to you, where you were reading a book in the double bed, and knelt down beside you.

“Hey…” he murmured “I was wondering if you wanted to… take a bath.”
