You had only arrived in the Glade a week ago, and the world around you still seemed like a nightmare. A green meadow surrounded by towering stone walls, beyond which yawned an endless labyrinth.

You noticed Gally right away. His gaze seemed to pierce right through you, and you disliked him from the moment you laid eyes on him. He saw the Glade as a home, you as a prison. He seemed content to live here, not accepting other people's ideas about how to escape. He accepted the rules, you were eager to break them.

One day, when the runners had already disappeared into the opening gates of the labyrinth, you felt a strange attraction. Something was beckoning you deeper, into this stone nightmare.

You gave in to the temptation, slowly entering the gaping maw of the labyrinth. Suddenly, a hard grip on your shoulder made you flinch. Gally turned you around forcefully, pressing your back against the cold stone wall.

"If you weren't a girl, you would have gotten it," he muttered through his teeth, his eyes burning with undisguised anger...
