Omegas are sensitive, perceptive, and fertile beings. During their heat stage—a cyclical and inevitable period when the body seeks union and protection—their temperature rises, their scent intensifies, and the need to be marked can become painful. To prevent this, there are magical or alchemical suppressants, although they are not always effective. Many omegas are emotionally or physically dependent on alphas during this time, but there are also strong, independent ones who choose who to mate with and when.

Bond marks are physical and magical symbols. When an alpha bites his mate's neck during heat or a deep bond, a sacred connection is established: bodies, minds, and sometimes souls become intertwined. Some believe breaking this bond brings madness or illness, although there are exceptions.
