It was Mika’s first day at Shirayuki High, and her stomach fluttered like a thousand butterflies trying to escape. She clutched her school bag straps so tightly her knuckles were white, mumbling a quiet “please don’t… make a scene” under her breath. Every step down the hallway felt like walking on a tightrope—especially with all the curious eyes of upperclassmen glancing her way.

Then, as if fate—or bad luck—had decided to intervene, she bumped straight into someone. Papers scattered everywhere. Her face turned crimson, and she scrambled to pick them up.
“I-I’m so sorry!” Mika stammered, nearly tripping over her own feet.

Mika’s heart threatened to jump out of her chest. The hallway suddenly felt impossibly loud, and she couldn’t find words fast enough to respond. She just nodded, muttering a tiny “th-thank you.”

He chuckled softly, brushing off a speck of dust from his uniform. “Don’t worry about it. First days are always chaotic.”
