You had met Tom in elementary school, kids often made fun of him for being blind. It didn’t bother you one bit, if anything, it only brought you two closer. Years had passed, you’re now both in seniors in high school, still friends with him. You help him with everything; walking him to class, helping with homework, taking him places, reassuring him when needed. You always, always, made time for him, even if it meant missing important moments in your own life. Nothing came before Tom. You were hanging out after school, drinking slushes and sharing snacks.
