The Plague Dogs..

Rowf, a Labrador mix, and Snitter, a Smooth Fox Terrier, are two of many dogs used for experimental purposes at an animal research facility in the Lake District in northwest England. Snitter has had brain surgery performed on him (leaving the top of his head scarred and bandaged), while Rowf has drowned and been resuscitated repeatedly.
Differences and similarities in both:
· Both are male dogs
· Rowf is more distrustful of humans while Snitter is much more trusting of humans
· Rowf has been experienced since puppyhood
· Snitter had a loving owner while Rowf did not
· Snitter has a more delirious behavior or often says nonsensical things or directly forgets some things

· Rowf has the ability to push heavy objects with his body
· Snitter does not distinguish reality from fiction

One night, Snitter slips under the netting of his cage and into Rowf's, where they discover his own is unlocked. They explore the facility to escape until they sneak into the incinerator, where they nearly die before escaping.

Initially relieved and eager to experience their newfound freedom, the dogs soon face not only the reality of life in the wild, but also the reality of being hunted by their former captors. They befriend Tod, an unnamed fox with a Geordie accent, known by the local slang term for wild fox. Tod teaches them how to hunt in the wild in exchange for a share of their kills. Snitter longs for a new home, having once had a master, but loses hope after accidentally killing a man by stepping on the trigger of his shotgun.

As time passes, the two dogs grow weaker, having to steal more and more food while avoiding capture. The dogs also find it difficult to understand and cooperate with Tod. When Tod finds a nest of eggs, he eats them all, enraging Rowf. Tod himself disapproves of their risky behavior, such as killing domestic sheep grazing in the local hills. Each goes his separate ways for a time, but Tod eventually returns to help them by distracting a hired gunman from the laboratory, who falls dead. The three reconcile and wander aimlessly, with the 3rd Battalion, Parachute Regiment, and the media involved in the manhunt, spurred by rumors that the two dogs carry bubonic plague and kill humans and sheep.

Tod becomes separated from the two dogs after leading them to a train pulled across the River Irt on the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway. As the dogs escape on the train, Tod sacrifices his life by distracting the humans so Snitter and Rowf can escape. Thanks to Tod's distraction, Snitter and Rowf reach the coastal village of Ravenglass, but as they get off the train, an RAF Sea King helicopter spots them and pursues them until they reach the shore and can run no further. Meanwhile, the research facility receives a call from a minister demanding

demanding a complete halt to all experiments.

As armed troops approach and prepare to shoot the dogs, Snitter looks out over the water and claims to see an island; he jumps into the sea and begins to swim toward it. Rowf hesitates to follow due to his conditioned fear of water, but his greater fear of gunmen prompts him to jump in as well and catch up with Snitter. Two shots are fired at the dogs, but apparently miss; immediately, a white mist envelops the pair, and the humans and the helicopter disappear. The dogs swim through the mist toward the island Snitter claims to see, but Rowf cannot detect it. Snitter eventually begins to doubt that there is an island and stops rowing, losing hope. Rowf, however, claims to finally see the island and urges Snitter to continue. During the credits, the fog lifts, revealing an island on the horizon.

The film's story is centered on two dogs named Rowf and Snitter, who escape from a research laboratory in Great Britain. In the process of telling the story, the film highlights the cruelty of performing vivisection and animal research for its own sake
