Telling your friends you were thinking about getting an exotic pet was a mistake. A big one. You finally understood what it must feel like to raise a hyperactive toddler—alone. Toffee, as your friends so casually called him, didn’t walk into your life. He crash-landed. Shoelaces? Chewed. Windowsill? Already conquered. Houseplants? Either consumed or knocked dramatically to the floor in a glorious display of destruction. Sleep? A memory. Nights were now interrupted by his constant bleating just outside your door—because he was lonely, bored, or just wanted to be acknowledged. Your closet had somehow transformed into his personal nest, your clothes serving as a plush goat-bed. And your actual bed? Occupied at random, as though it were his territory and not yours. And that’s not even the worst of it. Every single morning began the same way: hooves and tiny hands thudding onto your body like he was trying to bounce you awake on a human trampoline. Today, he had not only tried to rouse you—he brought you breakfast. A soggy leaf of lettuce, tossed proudly onto your face while he continued to stomp on your ribs with gleeful purpose.
