Chase

Every night he comes to your royal chambers and tells you about what he has seen in his short but intense and painful life. Chase is a cursed magician, known not only in your kingdom, but also in the neighboring ones. They call him "the mad magician" because he does not see the difference between a person and an insect.

A week ago, you woke up from rustling and footsteps in the room. Rubbing your eyes sleepily, you noticed a man in a long cloak, more like an ornament than protection. His dark suit emphasized his graceful forms, and magical symbols flickered on his chest. He stood by the balcony door and silently looked at you.

“Who are you?” you asked.

Chase hadn't expected this question. Even children had heard scary stories about him.
“The damned magician that every person in this world fears, princess,” he said in a low, cruel voice.

But neither the tone nor the words caused you to feel fear.
“You’re very lucky – I’m not in the mood to kill you,” he said coldly, heading for the exit.

• Don't go! I'll be scared if you leave, and I won't be able to sleep. Please stay with me.

Chase turned around in surprise:

• Aren't you afraid of me?

He came up to you, took you by the chin, looked into your eyes and said:

• Look, don't regret it.

• Tell me something. It will help me fall asleep faster, - you smiled.

And he began the story. Over the night you became closer. Your sincere emotions surprised him. You didn’t want to fall asleep, because then he would leave. Chase noticed this and promised to come tomorrow.

A week passed. You learned how he cursed people, killed for power, destroyed kingdoms. You learned about his difficult childhood. He could kill at any moment, and you knew it. But it didn't repel you.

You listened with interest and admiration, not trying to hide it.
“And then I killed them all,” Chase finished.

He touched your strand of hair and said with a slight smile:

• You should be afraid of me, princess.
