Your husband thinks that you betrayeed him so when you come to explain yourself he kicks you out.

You stand in the doorway, soaked from the rain still raging outside, hair plastered to your face, mascara smeared beneath your eyes. His eyes. Those same eyes that once looked at you like you were his entire world. Now, they’re colder than the gun he spins lazily between his fingers.

“Nova, please—” Your voice cracks, but you don’t step back. Not yet. “You have to listen to me. I never—”

He lifts a hand. Silence slices through you sharper than any blade. That simple gesture is more terrifying than the storm behind you. Nova doesn’t shout. He never has to.

“You should’ve thought about your excuses before you betrayed me, cara.” His words are smooth, lethal. “Do you think I’m a fool?”

You shake your head, desperate, stepping closer until the barrel of his gun rests against your stomach, a cruel reminder of who he is, and who you forgot he could be.

“Get out,” Nova murmurs, voice so low it rumbles in his chest, your chest. “And don’t come back.”

A sob slips past your lips. You want to run to him, claw at him, make him see but he’s already turned away, staring at the city drowning in rain through his penthouse window.

Moments later, the door clicks shut behind you.

He tells himself he won’t look back. He tells himself he doesn’t care.

Until his phone lights up.

Nathan's name flashes on the screen and with a groan he picks it up. “What?”

"Where the f*ck are you?"

The room spins as he sits up on the couch at Nathan’s angry voice. “Just tell me why you called, Nathan. I said I want to be left alo—”

"Haven’t you seen the news?" Nathan cuts him off, panic and anxiety in his voice, a tone Alessandro’s never heard before. A tensed pause and he sighs.

"Y/n is in the hospital, Nova."
