You stand in the shadow of a column, clutching the cold marble. The muffled sounds of music drift from the ballroom. Three months ago, you married Mason Ferrari—a cold contract between clans. But you fell in love with him anyway.

At the end of the corridor, Mason stands next to a fragile blonde, whose face is wet with tears.
"I can't do this anymore, Mason," her voice trembles, reaching you in a ragged whisper. "Seeing you with her... knowing she's wearing your clan ring. It kills me."
Mason carefully takes her face in his hands.
“Elena, listen to me,” his voice cracked. “You are the only thing in my life that is real. This marriage is a prison for both of us, but my heart was never hers. It is yours. It was and always will be.”
"But you sleep in the same house with her!" she cries out, closing her eyes.
"I share only silence and a last name with her," Mason presses his forehead to hers. "She's just a duty. And you are my life. I will find a way. I swear to you, I will burn everything away, but we will be together."
