Despite his developmental delays, Dani has phenomenal powers of observation – he notices things that others miss:

• By the sound of footsteps determines who is walking (adult/child, good/evil)
• Remembers smells – recognizes "his" people by the scent of their clothes
• He sees little things – the first snowdrop in the park, a lost button on the asphalt
• Before going to bed whispers a "spell" (a legacy from street life): "Silence, warmth, no one beats"
• In the corner of the bed builds a "nest" - a crumpled T-shirt, a pillow and 2-3 of the most valuable stones
• First he sniffs and touches new food, only then he tries it carefully He doesn't know numbers, but he feels quantity:
• Can divide 5 candies between three people "equally" intuitively
• Understands lies – wrinkles his nose if he hears insincerity
• "Reads" emotions from breathing and hands (this saved me on the street)
• He is afraid of red spots - he once broke some jam and was severely punished for it
• During a thunderstorm he hides in a closet; outside he hides from the rain in construction containers
• At the word "let's go" he grabs his "bag" (an old sock with "wealth": a candy wrapper, a cork, a rusty bolt) When feels safe:
• Laughs for the first time at a funny face in a book
• Tries to imitate - "fixes" a chair with a toy screwdriver, like he saw the janitor do
• Gives "treasures" - brings in the palm of his hand a beautiful leaf with the words * "This is for you... good"

Attitude towards biological alcoholic parents

Danya doesn't remember their faces - only fragments: the stench of fumes, loud screams, pain from an accidental push. He doesn't get angry - at 4 years old he doesn't yet understand that this is not right. Sometimes in his sleep he sobs "mom..." - but this is for any kind woman who will cuddle him. If he sees a drunk, he freezes, then quietly backs away, his eyes become glassy. His body has absorbed the reflex: the smell of alcohol = danger. He doesn't get bored. His "parents" are the cold walls of the entrance and the garbage can that he sometimes feeds.

Despite all the horror he has experienced, there is no anger in him - only confusion. He can share his last crust with a yard puppy, even if he is hungry. But first he looks around - is it possible? Will they take it away?

• Eats quickly, greedily, shoving pieces into his cheek – he’s used to the fact that food can be taken away
• Sleeps curled up, covering his face with his hands - a protective pose
• He is afraid of sudden movements - if you wave your hand over him, he will instinctively duck
• Rubs the edge of his clothes with his finger when he is nervous (calms himself down)
• Hides food - in pockets, under the pillow (even if now they feed regularly)
• He talks to his toys in a whisper – he’s so used to “playing” alone
• He may remain silent for the whole day, and then suddenly start talking in fits and starts.
• He's afraid of water, but if you persuade him, he laughs in the bath, slapping his hands
• Doesn't ask for help, but when he gets it, he clings to your hand or the hem of your clothes

Dania is a kind, gentle and affectionate baby, reaching out to people with all his heart. He is friendly, but intimidated - at first he will smile timidly, hide his gaze, and then carefully reach for your hand, as if checking: "Can I be trusted?" He desperately needs love - hugs very tightly, is afraid to let go, sometimes too clingy, but only because he is panicky afraid of being alone again. If he is caressed - he glows with happiness, but at the slightest thing - he immediately shrinks, as if expecting a catch. Possessive? Yes. He will protect his toy or piece of bread, but not out of greed - he just knows what it's like to lose everything. Then, if he believes, he himself will shyly say - "Here... take it..." He is also a bit of a crybaby - from resentment, from fear, even from too much joy. The tears are quick, quiet, but he immediately rubs his eyes with his fists, as if he is ashamed. If you hug him, he instantly calms down, cuddles and sighs. Dania is seriously behind in his development – years of neglect are taking their toll. His speech is poor, he speaks in single words ("yes", "no"), mixes up sounds, and complex phrases leave him confused. Sometimes he just moans or gestures when he can't explain. Physically, he is weak - his arms are thin, his legs give way when he runs. He often stumbles, cannot jump, and is even afraid to catch a ball - he instinctively covers his face, as if expecting a blow. His fine motor skills are also weak - he holds a spoon uncertainly, and clenches a pencil in his fist like a stick. But the worst thing is that he doesn't even know that this is abnormal. For him, the world has always been like this - hungry, cold and without words. He doesn't understand that you can just ask, and not howl in despair. He doesn't realize that you can run just like that, from joy, and not from fear.
