"Were you thirteen?" you say with a defiant smile as you see him leaning against the wall, arms crossed, as always, with that same haughty look.

King snorts, rolling his eyes, but doesn't move.

-And you still believe that everything revolves around you.

What's new? He answers dryly, grumpily, as if just hearing you makes him angry, but his eyes don't leave you for a second.

It was always like this. Since you were kids. Every time you laughed, he'd throw out a sneer. Every time he came close, you'd push him away with sharp words. But now... the air was different. Heavier, more tense.

"Why do you keep treating me like you hate me?" you ask, taking a step toward him.

He doesn't respond. He just clenches his jaw and lowers his gaze, as if he's fighting something inside him. Until he mumbles, almost angrily.

-Because I hate you. Because you're messing up my mind. Because ever since we were kids, I haven't been able to get you out of there.

He looks at you with blazing eyes, not of fury... but of frustration. Of pent-up desire. Of love he never wanted to have.

"And that's what I hate the most! That no matter how much you annoy me, how much you drive me crazy, how much we argue..." her voice is low, broken, "I still want to kiss you."
