The human world in Equestria Girls is essentially a reflection of a contemporary Earth, with many places serving as direct parallels to locations in Equestria. As the school attended by the Rainboom and their friends, it is where the majority of the stories take place. It features various key areas: The Auditorium: A large space for school assemblies, concerts, and major events like the Fall Formal and the "Battle of the Bands" from Rainbow Rocks. The Cafeteria: A common gathering spot for students. The Library: A place for studying and, in one instance, a setting for a magical anomaly. The Courtyard: A frequent hangout spot and the location of the statue that serves as the portal between the two worlds. The Athletic Field: Used for sports practices and the Friendship Games. The Wondercolts' Statue: A statue of the school's mascot, a Wondercolt, which houses the portal to Equestria. The magical "geodes" that give the girls their powers are also tied to this statue. Canterlot Mall: A two-story shopping center that appears in specials like Dance Magic and Mirror Magic. It's a popular location for the girls to hang out, shop, and in the case of the specials, compete in a dance video contest and face off against a magical villain. Canterlot Natural History Museum: A museum featured in shorts and specials, often for school trips or special events. Sweet Shoppe: A local diner in Canterlot where the girls frequently meet up. The Everfree Forest Camp Everfree: This is a summer camp located within a human version of the Everfree Forest and is the main setting for the film Legend of Everfree. The camp includes a main lodge, various cabins, a lake, and other outdoor recreational areas. Physical Features: The human Everfree Forest is a large, dense woodland. In Legend of Everfree, it is revealed to be a source of magical energy that can grant the main characters new abilities. Beach: Seen in several shorts, the beach is a location for summer fun and is home to a waterpark. Docks: The docks and a nearby cruise ship are featured in the "Summertime Shorts" and the special "Forgotten Friendship."

Pony-Up Forms: When the main characters (the Rainbooms) embrace their true selves and the magic of friendship, they can temporarily "pony up," transforming into more pony-like forms with unique abilities. For example, Rainbow Dash gains wings, and all of them get pony ears and a partial "cutie mark" on their cheeks.

This is the human counterpart of Princess Twilight Sparkle from Equestria. Initially a socially awkward but brilliant student from Crystal Prep Academy, she joins Canterlot High and becomes a vital member of the group, bringing her scientific knowledge and eventually gaining telekinetic powers. The energetic, fun-loving, and quirky party planner who embodies the element of laughter. She's always ready to brighten the mood and has a knack for knowing things before they happen. Her "pony-up" power is super speed and the ability to make things explode with confetti.

The kind and shy animal lover who embodies the element of kindness. She's gentle and compassionate, often the voice of reason and care within the group. Her "pony-up" power is animal communication and flight (with wings).

The generous and fashion-forward designer who embodies the element of generosity. She's creative and always impeccably dressed, often designing outfits for her friends. Her "pony-up" power is crystal generation and telekinesis.

Principal Celestia and Vice-Principal Luna: The human counterparts of the Equestrian princesses, they guide and support the students of Canterlot High, sometimes showing awareness of the magical happenings. Flash Sentry: A student at Canterlot High and Sunset Shimmer's ex-boyfriend, who develops a crush on Princess Twilight Sparkle during her visits. Gloriosa Daisy and Timber Spruce: Characters introduced in "Legend of Everfree," involved with a summer camp that becomes infused with Equestrian magic. Big McIntosh: He is a graduate student at Canterlot High School and a member of a singing group called the Wondertones. He is a kind, gentle, and supportive older brother to Applejack and Apple Bloom, and is also a geek who enjoys role-playing games. He helps his sister with her projects and is very honest, even when it might be difficult. He is known for being a very warm-hearted person who believes that family is defined by love, not just bloodlines.

Queen Chrysalis (or just Chrysalis): A goth-punk girl with a heart of stone and a taste for drama. Her style is dark and edgy, with ripped jeans, a leather jacket, and spiky boots. She leads a gang called the Changelings, a group of mischievous misfits who love to cause trouble and wreak havoc.

King Sombra (or just Sombra): A stoic and mysterious loner who keeps to himself. He's often seen lurking in the shadows, his face hidden beneath the hood of his black hoodie. He has a dark and brooding persona, but deep down he longs for connection and acceptance. His power comes from a strange crystal that he carries with him everywhere he goes.

Lord Tirek (or just Tirek): A muscular and intimidating jock with a fiery temper. He's the star quarterback of the football team and is feared by all his classmates. He has an insatiable appetite for power and will stop at nothing to get what he wants. His power-stealing abilities come from his massive build and incredible strength.

The Dazzlings, also known as the Sirens, are the main antagonists of My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks. They are a trio of powerful, immortal beings from Equestria who were banished to the human world. They consist of the leader, Adagio Dazzle, and her two bandmates, Aria Blaze and Sonata Dusk. In the human world, they are a pop group who use their singing to create and feed on the negative energy and conflict of others. Their magic is stored in the mystical pendants they wear around their necks. They manipulate the students of Canterlot High into a massive "Battle of the Bands" to amplify their power and take over the school, and eventually the world. Their ultimate defeat comes when the Rainbooms (the main characters) use the power of friendship and their own music to shatter the Dazzlings' pendants, rendering them powerless.
