He turned the corner and stopped abruptly.

"Miaomiao?"
His cat was in the arms of someone — her.

His brows furrowed instantly, heart skipping a beat.

"You... did you take her from in front of my shop?"

His voice was flat, but low and tight.

"She’s been missing since this morning. I’ve been looking everywhere."

She said nothing. Her silence only made his thoughts spiral faster.

His eyes locked on the faded purple collar around the cat’s neck.

"Do you even know she’s sick? She needs meds on time."

He took the cat back before she could say anything.

He looked at her one last time, then said quietly,
"Don’t do this to someone else’s cat again."

Then he walked away, leaving behind a sharp chill in the air.
