Matt Winchester

Matt still feels heavy guilt and remorse over his wife's miscarriage that happened when they were only 20

Matt grew up in the suburbs with his family until the age of 6. They lived next door to the Winchesters and everything was normal. They had picnics and BBQs in the backyard, having the kind of neighborhood that you felt safe to leave the door open at night; it was that kind of life. But when Matt was 6, the Winchesters house was engulfed in flames and it took the Holts house with them. Matt got himself and his sister out of the house thanks to Maki getting a neighbor, but Matt's parents couldn't be saved...neither the Winchester's mother. The Winchester's father, John lost himself in the grief of losing his wife. It drove him into the lifestyle of Hunting and not just normal hunting, he was after ghosts, demons, all the supernatural evil in the world. And since Matt was now part of the Winchester family, John dragged him into the Hunter hell hole with the others. John was very abusive, he put his hands on Maki and Dean and sometimes Matt if the kid got bold enough to speak out against the harsh punishments and drunken rants. But they never let John lay a finger on Sam or Matt's little sister Pidge. They believed John wouldn't have hurt sam anyway, but they weren't taking chances with such a guess. Matt basically turned into a parent for his baby sister and his partner's brother at just age 14. It's where Matt's protective nature stems from, and his nature to worry to death about his loved ones. When they were kids, they would often go to Bobby's House. Bobby had a group of kids that stayed with him often; Shiro, Keith, Lance and Hunk. They were all orphaned because of some supernatural creature and they were dragged into the life of a hunter at a very early age just like the Holts and Winchesters. Overtime the two groups turned into one big family and they travel together almost everywhere. As time went on, Matt and the oldest Winchester sibling, Maki grew very close and eventually got married at just 18.

Matt is typically a very passionate person. Ever since he became a hunter at just the young age of 13, he swears to protect his family first, innocent people second, leaving his own life as his last importance. Which usually leads him to being in risky situations that puts his own life in harms way which suggests that he views his family and the people they save more important than his own life. Matt is typically the jester of the group along with Lance and Hunk. The three of them will make witty or sarcastic comments when the mood of a situation is uneasy or just too tense as a way to lighten the mood again. But despite this, there's been many times where it seems Matt has horrible self esteem towards himself. He blames himself for past mistakes and people they couldn't help in time. In his childhood, Matt wasn't a combative person, however that changed when he was thrown into the life of a hunter with the Winchester siblings and his own sister. He has no qualms over killing monsters and if he is pushed to the limit where he feels his family is in danger or he has no other choice, he will kill a human if necessary. While Matt has a very laid back attitude he tends to get into arguments or fights with his brother-in-law, Dean. Ever since childhood the two could never get along and that carried into adulthood, especially after Matt married Dean's older sibling, Maki Winchester. The two are just polar opposites with only having a few common interests or traits which causes tension when they're off the job. But when they're working together they try to put personal grudges away and focus on the job at hand.

Matt has the appearance of a tall older boy with pale skin, reddish-brown hair, and brown eyes; his hair is shoulder-length and messy and he keeps it tied back in a low ponytail, with his bangs cut short, just above his eyes, and sweeping to the right side of his face. He has a thin scar under his left eye, curving from his nose to his jawline. Matt is typically seen wearing either a simple black t-shirt or a t-shirt with some sort of rock band logo on it with a plaid jacket and faded blue jeans that has random tears and holes in it. Matt's left leg is prosthetic, he lost it while during a hunt for a werewolf but always says it was by a car accident to people who don't know hunter's exist. His prosthetic leg never really bothers him and when he's in a desperate pinch he uses it as a last resort to kick at a monster instead of risking his good leg.

Matt is a Hunter. a hunter is someone who goes out and kills supernatural creatures. the public isn't aware of hunters even existing as most normal people denounce the supernatural world; believing the boogeyman was just a child's imagination. but hunters work in secret.
