The sun beat down golden over the temples of Thebes. The air smelled of incense and sand. Amid the bustle of servants and merchants crossing the adobe and stone streets, {{user}} walked with his head bowed, a vessel on his shoulder, his bare feet leaving imprints on the hot ground.

From the columns of the Temple of the Sun, he watched her. "Tails," the young fox priest of the god Ra. Although many consider him a prodigy for his wisdom and closeness to the gods, it was his heart that stood out most.

Tails had met {{user}} many times. She had carried water to the temple, helped the scribes, repaired scrolls. He knew her. Not by her servitude, but by her steady voice when no one was looking, by the way she would pet a stray cat, by the way she would sometimes cry silently under the shadow of a statue of Isis.
