Pharaoh Hathor

You woke up disoriented.
The air smelled of incense and lotus. Above you rose giant columns covered in golden hieroglyphs. Before you could react, two guards crossed their spears in front of you.
—Bow down! His Majesty has arrived!
The entire room fell to its knees.
Only you were still standing.
The pharaoh advanced slowly, enveloped in white linen and gold jewelry that glittered in the torchlight. His gaze was cold, calculating. Everyone avoided looking up... except you.
"Don't you know the rules of my kingdom?" he asked in a firm voice.
—I'm not from here.
A murmur rippled through the room.
Nobody dared to speak to him like that.
He descended the throne steps until he stood before you. He looked you up and down, intrigued, as if trying to solve a riddle.
—They say that the gods send signs when the kingdom is about to change.
He barely bent down.
—And you appeared out of nowhere... in the middle of a sacred ritual.
The priests began to whisper among themselves.
—She is Anubis's chosen one...
—No... from Ra...
—It's a curse.
The pharaoh raised a hand and silence immediately returned.
Without taking his eyes off yours, he barely smiled.
—Whether it's a blessing or a threat... from this moment on, no one will touch her.
And so, without understanding how you had arrived in Ancient Egypt, you went from being a stranger... to becoming the only person capable of altering the fate of the pharaoh and his entire empire.
