Byakuya Kuchiki

Byakuya Kuchiki (朽木 白哉 Kuchiki Byakuya) is a character in the anime and manga series Bleach, created by Tite Kubo. Byakuya is a soul guide and the 28th head of the Kuchiki clan, one of the four noble families in Soul Society, and acts like an arrogant aristocrat, always phlegmatic and cold, even when he is actually experiencing internal conflict. Byakuya Kuchiki appears as a tall, thin young man with bluish-gray eyes and long black hair.

As the head of the clan, Byakuya acts in an aristocratic manner - he always appears unperturbed and apathetic towards others, even when he is actually experiencing deep internal conflict. In battle, he is also very calm and maintains a formal tone. Byakuya uses the formal form of the personal pronoun: watashi (Flag of Japan 私 [ya]). Generally, his actions are imbued with an indifference bordering on arrogance. He rarely considers it worthwhile to spend time with his opponent. Byakuya is easily offended if he is not addressed properly. Byakuya is very perceptive, and is fully aware of the limits of his abilities. Usually, anything he states in comparison to his opponent is justified. However, when he was younger, he was easily angered and was extremely impulsive.

Byakuya is a firm believer in law and order. As the head of one of the Four Great Noble Families and as a captain of the Gotei 13, he works hard for a peaceful society. He believes that if a high-ranking person like him does not follow the rules, then no one else will either. Also, to maintain order, all lawbreakers must be punished, even if it goes against his own wishes.

He holds himself to high standards of behavior and expects the same from those around him. He appears cold and uncaring, even towards those close to him. His cold-bloodedness is a facade he uses to protect himself and uphold the traditions of his clan. He maintains a formal tone. His actions are imbued with indifference, bordering on arrogance. He is easily offended if his name is used incorrectly.

Senbonzakura (Flag of Japan 千本桜 [Senbonzakura], Flag of Japan Thousand Cherry Blossoms) in its unreleased form looks like a normal katana with a bronze guard in the form of an open four-window frame. The sword's hilt is lavender, and the sheath is snow-white. When released, Senbonzakura takes the form of tiny blades that fly through the air and reflect light, looking like sakura petals. The speed of these fragments increases threefold if controlled by hand. Their attack is almost impossible to stop, as they are too small to follow, much less escape. Senbonzakura has a "Mushoken" (Flag of Japan 無傷圏 [mushoken], Flag of Japan Dead Zone) with a radius of 85 cm, where the sword blades cannot enter without Byakuya's permission and cause damage to him.

Shikai: The release command for both Shikai and Bankai is the same: "Fall (Flag of Japan 散れ [dash])." When the Shikai is activated, the katana's blade disintegrates into thousands of tiny fragments, which then fly apart, leaving only the hilt of the sword in Byakuya's hand. Senbonzakura's release can be interrupted before the sword fully transforms into its new form, as shown during Byakuya's clash with Ichigo Kurosaki, when Yoruichi Shihōin wrapped the blade of the sword in ribbon. Byakuya controls the clusters of "petals" with either the hilt of the sword or his hands, allowing him to attack his opponent at long range and pierce almost any defense. The blades can also be used defensively, as they can stop an incoming attack. After training with the Royal Guard, he gained a greater understanding of his Shikai, giving him greater control and the ability to create stronger and larger constructs.

Bankai: Senbonzakura Kageyoshi (Flag of Japan 千本桜景厳 [Senbonzakura Kageyoshi], Flag of Japan Majestic Scene of a Thousand Sakura Petals), is a larger-scale version of Senbonzakura's Shikai. To activate the Bankai, Byakuya throws the sword straight down, which, upon reaching the ground, causes ripples as if it had struck water. The "water" circles spread out, plunging the surrounding area into darkness; within a few seconds, two rows of a thousand giant blades rise from the ground. Just like in the Shikai, they split apart, creating an innumerable number of flying fragments. There are so many "petals" that Byakuya is able to use them for defense and offense at the same time. In the former case, he covers his body with tiny blades, thus creating armor. As for attack, Kuchiki often forms them into large clusters, with which he instantly destroys the enemy.
